Our unconscious behaviors have a language of their own. These behaviors have likely become an integral part of who you are and if you do not spend much time thinking about them, now is a good time to start, because they culd be sabotaging your career.

Ask yourself these questions and genuinely answer them. And then, if you do not like some of the answers you get from yourself, it’s time to make some changes.

6. How Do You Treat Strangers?

How do you treat strangers and customer service workers? Whether you are polite or rude to the receptionist is important. Do you have empathy to be polite and have a genuine conversation with a waiter, or do you ignore the cab driver’s attempt to have a lighthearted conversation about the weather?

 

7. How Do You Cope With Struggle?

Almost always, people are judged by their ability to cope with stress or struggles. Often times, people who have not had any struggle in their lives do not quite live in the same world as everyone else. Having some sort of struggle that they had to overcome or learn to live with makes a person appear more genuine and hardworking.

 

8. What Are Your Leisure Activities?

In personal interactions and even in official settings, what one does for leisure is an important indicator to who that person is, and the sort of values he or she has. The books he or she reads, as well as the hobbies go a long way to tell who the person is.

9. What Do You Do With Social Media?

The social media is there for everyone and anyone to post anything and everything. What you post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on go a long way in telling who you are.

10. Are You Honest With Yourself?

It is often difficult to figure out or try to determine if a person is really honest with himself about his strength and weaknesses. People would look for behavior consistent with what you say. This also to a large extent shows your level of integrity. For example, if you make promises that you do not fulfill or say things and do the opposite, then you will be marked badly.
