Controversial Singer Portable Surrenders to Lagos SCID After Being Declared Wanted by Ogun Police

Popular and controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has surrendered himself to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the news, stating, “Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted the Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up.”

Portable was declared wanted on February 18, 2025, following allegations that he and nine associates assaulted and obstructed officers from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. The police subsequently issued a wanted notice for the singer across social media, revealing that a magistrate’s court in Ogun State had issued an arrest warrant against him.

According to the police, the singer faces charges including conspiracy, serious assault, going armed, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and attempted murder. Authorities allege that he recruited armed thugs to attack officials of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development at the Ota zonal office on February 5. The incident reportedly took place at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, in Ota, Ogun State.

While several of his associates were arrested and arraigned, Portable initially went into hiding, pleading for leniency from the Ogun State government and sharing videos from undisclosed locations. However, as pressure mounted from law enforcement and fans urging him to turn himself in, the singer eventually surrendered to the police.

With his detention now in the hands of the authorities, all eyes are on the Ogun State Police Command as they proceed with their investigation and possible prosecution of the singer.
