Nigerian singer, actor, and politician Banky W has marked another major milestone, earning a Master’s degree in Policy Management from the prestigious Georgetown University in Washington D.C. The multifaceted star shared the news in a heartfelt Instagram post on May 20, 2025, reflecting on a transformative period in his life marked by academic rigor, family growth, and unwavering faith.
Banky W, whose real name is Olubankole Wellington, described the past few years as a “stretching season” for both himself and his family. In his emotional message, he credited his academic achievement to a blend of faith, resilience, and support from his loved ones. He noted that what many might view as the end of a journey can, in fact, be the start of something new.
“Faith gives you the courage, resilience and power to redefine endings,” he wrote. “What many may see as the finish line of a journey can become the starting point of the next chapter of your story.”
The singer-turned-politician proudly revealed that he earned his degree from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy—one of the most respected institutions for public policy education globally. But his academic success wasn’t the only significant event during this period. He also celebrated the birth of his second child with wife and actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington.
“We welcomed our 2nd child – Hezekiah Oluwadarasimi Wellington – into the world in the middle of earning this degree in Washington DC,” Banky W shared. “Parenting two children in the US, while earning a full-time Master’s and serving as a Fellow on Capitol Hill all at the same time was completely exhausting, but by the grace of God, the strength of faith and the support of family, friends and mentors, we did it!”
His achievement comes at a time when many public figures are increasingly using their platforms to advocate for education, empowerment, and societal change.
