Wizkid Deletes Cryptic Tweet, Fans Speculate It Was Directed at Davido
Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, recently made waves on social media with a cryptic tweet that left fans buzzing with speculation. The tweet, which has since been deleted, saw Wizkid calling someone “stupid” and referencing a particular name the individual was allegedly bearing. Though he didn’t clarify who he was addressing, the tweet quickly caught the attention of fans, with many speculating that it was aimed at his long-time rival, fellow Nigerian artist Davido.
Wizkid’s tweet, which appeared to be fueled by frustration, read: “Stupid… it’s in your house you can be bearing that name.” His followers immediately began connecting the dots, with some pointing out that the tweet could be a jab at Davido, especially after a man named Kasohh tagged the “Assurance” hitmaker under the post. Kasohh’s tweet repeated Wizkid’s words, but with Davido’s name added. Following the tag, the original tweet was swiftly deleted by Wizkid, leaving fans with more questions than answers.
This is not the first time that Wizkid has publicly expressed tension toward Davido. Months after their well-known feud seemed to cool off, the “Ojuelegba” singer reignited the drama with this tweet, leading many to believe there might still be unresolved animosity between the two. Previously, Wizkid made headlines when he prayed not to encounter his “opponent” while in Lagos, which fans quickly interpreted as another reference to Davido.
Fans, however, did not hold back in their reactions to the tweet. Some expressed disappointment over the apparent bitterness, while others took the opportunity to express their loyalty to Davido. One user wrote, “Why is Wizkid pained? David no gree answer you no go live the guy?” suggesting that Wizkid might be frustrated by the lack of response from Davido. Another fan simply commented, “Cry daddy cry,” hinting at the ongoing drama.
While some fans rallied behind Wizkid, many others defended Davido, with comments like “Grace follows Davido, he is loved, if you like keep blabbing, it changes nothing.” Others accused Wizkid of jealousy, with one user stating, “So long as he has Kid in his name, he will always behave like one.”
Wizkid’s cryptic post, followed by his decision to delete it, has left fans questioning whether the feud between him and Davido is truly over or if it will continue to simmer in the background. The two have a long history of rivalry, but both artists continue to dominate the Nigerian music scene in their own right. For now, fans will have to wait and see if Wizkid will address the tweet or if it will remain one of many unsaid words between the two superstars.
