Portable Blames Ex-Girlfriend Queen Dami for Not Winning a Grammy Award
Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has stirred up a wave of discussion after he claimed that his ex-girlfriend, Queen Dami, is the reason he has not won a Grammy Award. The controversial statement came during a chat with media personality Daddy Freeze on Instagram Live, where Portable shared his troubles with women and his belief that his lack of progress is tied to Queen Dami.
According to Portable, he had prayed to Ifa, the Yoruba deity, and made sacrifices in a bid to remove anything or anyone hindering his success. He claimed that Ifa instructed him to remove all obstacles from his life, which he interpreted as his relationship with Queen Dami. The singer went on to assert that, had it not been for her presence in his life, he would have won a Grammy by now.
In Yoruba, Portable said, “I gave food to Aje and I prayed to Ifa and I was told to say that anything blocking my way, whether it’s a woman or man that I accommodated that is not letting me progress, let them depart from me, so that they don’t remove my battery.” He further added that Queen Dami was one of the reasons behind his Grammy loss, stating, “She has gone with her problems. She’s one of the reasons I have not won a Grammy Award.”
The conversation quickly went viral on social media, with fans expressing mixed reactions to Portable’s remarks. Some found the statement humorous, while others criticized his derogatory comments about his former girlfriend. One commenter said, “Even nomination, unno go see,” while another joked, “If dem give u Grammy make I bend.” Others, however, expressed concerns about the way he spoke ill of someone he once dated.
Portable’s remarks come just after Queen Dami moved out of his house, following an incident where Portable stormed her TikTok live show to hurl insults at her. Fans are now reacting to the situation, with many expressing shock at Portable’s attempt to place blame for his career setbacks on his ex-girlfriend.
This is not the first time Portable has made controversial statements about his relationships. Earlier, he revealed using black magic, or “jazz,” to tie down women, further fueling the drama surrounding his personal life.
As the discussion continues to trend online, fans and critics are left to wonder if this claim will have any impact on Portable’s career or his reputation in the Nigerian music industry.
