According to the gospel singer, she initially worked with Eezee as a backup singer before eventually signing a contract with his management company. However, things took a turn in 2019 when Eezee proposed extending her five-year contract to twelve years. Mercy declined, expressing her desire to move on and no longer be under his management.

This decision reportedly led to tensions between the two, and Mercy claimed that Eezee became hostile, even resorting to threats that made her feel unsafe in Lagos, prompting her to relocate to Port Harcourt for peace of mind. She also alleged that Eezee attempted to control her professional relationships, including refusing to allow her to perform for certain church pastors, including Pastor Jerry of Streams of Joy.

He is the God of justice, and He must arise for my sake,” she said, quoting Psalm 94:1-2.
