Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has taken to social media to express his frustration and feelings of neglect by his home state, Ogun, following his ongoing tussle with the state government. The artist’s grievances come after nine of his associates were arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting officers from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Portable’s Emotional Outcry
In a series of heartfelt posts on his Instagram story on February 9, 2025, Portable lamented the lack of appreciation he receives in Ogun State. He wrote, “ZAzuu I wanted to let you know the right place values you in the right way. Don’t find yourself in the place and get angry if you are not valued. Am from Ogun state but nobody value me or appreciate my doings. Those that know your value are those people who appreciate you. Don’t stay in place where nobody sees your value.”
The singer further compared himself to legendary figures who have faced adversity, stating, “God dey where I dey ZAzuu. Am close to God. Them no fit do me like FELA I swear to God. I promise I no go die young I no be Anini ooo. Make them free me. It don dey look like war. War way wetin youths do una. I no fit suffer for watin I no do… On God my helper go locate me. Ogun ni Aiye. I be real Qmọ Ogun. Ogo Ogun State.”
The Allegations
Portable’s legal troubles began after he and his associates were accused of assaulting officers from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA). The officers had reportedly visited Portable’s Odogwu Bar and Restaurant to seal the property due to a lack of approved permits and insufficient air space.
Portable claims that the officials stormed his business, arresting over 20 individuals, including artists and customers, while also confiscating vehicles, gadgets, and personal belongings. Although his associates have been arraigned, Portable himself has not yet been apprehended and is reportedly in hiding.
Seeking Justice
The singer is calling for justice, describing the situation as unfair. “Justice for me ZAZUU. God where are you,” he pleaded in one of his posts.
Portable’s outcry reflects the challenges celebrities often face when navigating legal and social pressures, particularly in their home regions. As his case unfolds, the public awaits further developments, with fans and critics divided over the artist’s actions and his claims of injustice.
