Richard Mofe-Damijo Expands His Legacy with Film Production

Nollywood veteran Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) is stepping into a new role as a film producer, marking an exciting chapter in his illustrious career. The legendary actor, lawyer, and former commissioner has partnered with Nile Media Entertainment to produce and distribute two highly anticipated films: Radio Voice and Revelations.
A Bold Step into Film Production
For decades, RMD has been a household name in Nollywood, captivating audiences with his performances. Now, through his company, RMD Productions, he is venturing beyond acting to shape stories from behind the scenes. With an exclusive global distribution deal with Nile Entertainment Group, RMD is ensuring that his films reach audiences far beyond Nigeria, solidifying Nollywood’s place in the international film market.
Moses Babatope, CEO of Nile Group, praised the partnership, emphasizing its impact on Nollywood’s global reach.
“As part of their first productions, RMD Productions has delivered the rare alchemy of crafting stories rooted in Nigerian experiences that speak to universal human emotions. Our data shows audiences worldwide hunger for authentic voices, and these two projects deliver that authenticity while maintaining production quality that competes in the global market.”
Radio Voice and Revelations: Two Stories Poised for Global Success
RMD’s first film under the deal, Radio Voice, is set for release on April 11, 2024. The redemption drama follows a former sex worker who finds a second chance at life through a struggling radio station while confronting the ghosts of her past. RMD describes the film as “a story that speaks to redemption without cliché.”
Following this, Revelations will premiere in August 2025. This emotionally charged cross-cultural drama, filmed in Nigeria and Utah, USA, follows a Nigerian-American couple navigating infertility, cultural expectations, and buried secrets that threaten their marriage and careers. The film has already won multiple awards at the Utah International Film Festival, signaling its potential as an international success.
Revelations also marks the feature film debut of RMD’s son, Oghenetega Mofe-Damijo, a Towson University graduate. Speaking about his experience, Oghenetega shared:
“We approached Revelations by blending cinematic traditions rather than replicating either Hollywood or Nollywood formulas. The non-linear narrative structure mirrors how cultural identity actually works—fragmentary, contradictory, and constantly evolving. Working alongside my father taught me that authentic storytelling requires both technical precision and emotional honesty.”
A Strategic Global Release
Understanding the international potential of these films, RMD Productions and Nile Entertainment have mapped out a strategic release plan.
Radio Voice will first premiere in West African cinemas before expanding to the diaspora market, while Revelations will debut at a major international film festival before its commercial release. This approach signals a shift in how Nollywood films are marketed, focusing on positioning them for wider global recognition.
With this new chapter in his career, RMD is not just making films—he’s paving the way for Nollywood to thrive on the world stage. Fans and industry watchers alike eagerly anticipate how his transition into production will further shape African cinema’s future.
