Davido Unveils ‘5ive’ as Title of His Upcoming Fifth Album
Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that his highly anticipated fifth studio album will be titled 5ive. The singer made the revelation while appearing on a Twitch stream hosted by alternative music star and content creator Cruel Santino.
According to Davido, the title 5ive was chosen simply to mark his fifth LP. Following the release of his Time Trilogy, which includes A Good Time, A Better Time, and the record-breaking Timeless, he felt it was time to move forward. While he stated that 5ive doesn’t carry any significant undertone, he hinted that researching the number five might reveal deeper meaning.
A Busy 2025 for Davido
The singer has already kicked off 2025 on a high note, securing his fifth Grammy nomination at the 67th Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance with his contribution to Chris Brown’s Sensational. He has also been nominated in five categories at the upcoming 17th Headies Awards, including the coveted Artist of the Year category, further cementing his status as one of the most decorated artists in the award’s history.
New Music Ahead of 5ive’s Release
In preparation for the album, Davido recently dropped a new single, Be There Still, on March 14. The track fuses Amapiano log drums with a mix of pidgin and English, reinforcing Davido’s status as an enduring superstar at the top of his game.
The single follows two previously released tracks from the album—Awuke featuring Jamaican Dancehall star YG Marley and Funds featuring Chike and OdumoduBlvck.
Scheduled for release on April 18, 5ive is expected to feature some exciting collaborations, including a track with Nigerian sensation Omah Lay, who described their collaboration as the perfect partnership. Afropop star Adekunle Gold has also hinted at a guest appearance, further building anticipation for the album.
In a social media post announcing 5ive, Davido described it as an album straight from the heart. With high expectations set by his chart-topping and award-winning fourth album Timeless, fans eagerly await what promises to be another major milestone in his illustrious career.
