Onyinye Odokoro Takes Center Stage in Anticipated Horror Film Oblation

Following her captivating lead role in Netflix’s Baby Farm, Nollywood actor Onyinye Odokoro is set to thrill audiences once again with her lead performance in the highly anticipated horror film Oblation. Currently in post-production, Oblation is a chilling exploration of generational trauma, spiritual entanglements, and the devastating consequences of ignoring unseen forces.
Written and directed by Chioma Paul-Dike, Oblation sees Odokoro in the role of Nelo, a newlywed who moves into her husband’s home only to begin experiencing disturbing and increasingly terrifying dreams. As the nightmares intensify, Nelo finds herself confronting forces far beyond her control, leading to a gripping psychological journey that intertwines horror and deep emotional struggles.
Odokoro, known for her powerful performances, will be joined by a talented ensemble cast including Kelechi Udegbe, Amanda Oruh, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, Ruby Akubueze, Bucci Franklin, Ebere Okaro, and Iyke Ndubuisi, all of whom bring their own unique energy to the film.
Chioma Paul-Dike, the director of Oblation, has described the film as a blend of psychological horror and African folklore. “It’s not just about fear; it’s about the things we inherit, the things we refuse to see, and the consequences of ignorance,” Paul-Dike explained. The film delves into the dark realms of tradition, spirituality, and the deep-seated forces that influence the characters’ lives in ways they don’t fully understand.
Oblation is the feature-length adaptation of Paul-Dike’s successful short film Dreams, which screened at over 15 international festivals, including AFRIFF (2023), the Silicon Valley African Film Festival (2024), and the Real-Time International Film Festival UK (2024). The expansion into a full-length film promises to delve deeper into the unsettling themes of the original short and present an even more intense narrative.
The production of Oblation is supported by an experienced team, with Eric Kafui Okyerefo serving as Executive Producer and Yemi Adeojo as the Director of Photography. Together, they bring a wealth of expertise to the project, ensuring that Oblation will be a visually and emotionally captivating experience.
While the release date for Oblation has not yet been confirmed, fans can expect more details to be unveiled in the coming months. With a story that promises to both disturb and enlighten, Oblation is shaping up to be a significant addition to the horror genre in Nigerian cinema.
