Veteran Nollywood Actor Tito Harrison Reveals Harrowing Battle with Life-Threatening Liver Disease

Veteran Nollywood actor Tito Harrison has opened up about a deeply personal and painful chapter in his life—his near-decade-long battle with a life-threatening liver disease that brought him to the brink of death and stripped his family of nearly all they owned.

In a recent emotional appearance on the Talk to B podcast, the revered Yoruba actor shared how the illness changed his life completely. What began as routine symptoms—nausea and a loss of appetite—quickly spiraled into a devastating diagnosis that would test not only his health but his faith, finances, and relationships.

“I Was in a Coma for Three Days”

“Things were going good until God said, ‘I have come to test you the way I tested Job,’” Harrison recounted. “I started feeling nauseous. I was losing my appetite. Getting to the hospital, I was told I had liver issues.”

The timeline of his illness dates back more than a decade, when his son was just four years old. Now 16, his son has grown up witnessing his father’s health battles up close. At one point, Harrison revealed, the disease became so severe that he slipped into a coma and remained unconscious for three days.

Forced to Sell Land and Property

Compounding the difficulty of the liver disease was a chronic ulcer, which returned with vengeance during this period. The medical bills quickly piled up, forcing Harrison and his family into heartbreaking decisions. He sold land and a nearly completed house just to afford treatment.

“We sold everything,” he said. “I moved my kids to their biological mother’s house while I and my wife had to stay with her family. Within that time, I couldn’t eat. My lung ulcer came back—a very chronic ulcer that could have killed me.”

Abandoned by Many, Saved by One

Amid his suffering, Harrison was hit with another blow—abandonment by those he once trusted and cared for. But even as people turned away, one person remained by his side: his wife.

“The luck I had was my wife. It is good to have a good wife,” he said with emotion. “If I come back to life, I will marry her again. Everyone left me, but that woman stood.”

Harrison and his wife share a decades-long love story. They dated for ten years before getting married, and have now been together for more than 30 years. Their daughter is 20 years old.

“I have lived with that woman for 30 years,” he added. “She is the only person I have seen.”
