Ibinabo Fiberesima Granted N2million Bail
After being initially denied bail by a three man panel presided over by Justice Ndukwe-Anyawu for the death of Dr. Suraj Giwa, Nollywood actress and President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Ibinabo Fiberesima has reportedly been granted bail by the Court of Appeal.
According to reports, Ibinabo has been granted N2million and she is expected to present two sureties of like sum residing within the jurisdiction of the court. The sureties must both be property owners in Lagos State.
Ibinabo’s new counsel is led by Adeyemi Muiz Banire (SAN) who was a former commissioner in Lagos state for twelve years.
The Rivers state born actress was sentenced to serve a 5 year jail term over the 2006 accident in which a car she drove killed a medical doctor, Suraj Giwa in Lagos.
Justice Samuel Oseji, who approved her bail stated that the bail was granted to her because of her health condition. The appeal court made the decision to release her temporarily in consideration of her breast cancer plight.
Following the bail granted unto Ibinabo Fiberesima, the ex- beauty queen has given gratitude to God. She posted a photo of herself with hands clenched in prayer on her Instagram page, thanking God for His love.
“Dear God, I live in a constant state of love. Your love is in every fiber of my being. I feel Your holy presence in the innermost reaches of my soul. There is nowhere I go without knowing that You love me. I thank You God for infinite love.”
It will be recalled that Ibinabo Fiberesima was sent to jail on March 11 by the state court of appeal after validating the 5year jail term handed down to the actress by the state’s high court oer the 2005 accident in which her car killed Dr. Suraj Giwa in Lagos.
Ibinabo’s friends and well wishers have been sending her congratulatory messages.
