Asake Named Best-Selling Artist in Nigeria for 2024
Grammy-nominated Nigerian superstar Asake has been crowned the best-selling artist in Nigeria for 2024, marking an extraordinary achievement in his career. According to TurnTable, Nigeria’s leading music chart publication, Asake dominated streaming platforms, TV, and radio more than any other artist this year, securing his position as the country’s most successful musician.
This is Asake’s third consecutive year as the overall No. 1 artist, making him the first star in Nigeria to reach such a milestone.
Throughout 2024, Asake’s musical projects have continued to top the charts. His previously released albums, Mr Money With The Vibe (MMWTV) and Work Of Art, remained fixtures in the top ten of the Official Top 100 Albums chart. However, it was his third album, Lungu Boy, which truly solidified his dominance. Released in August, the album spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the charts, becoming the best-selling album of the year.
In addition to his album success, Asake was also recognized as the No. 1 radio artist of 2024, earning this honor for the second consecutive year. He wrapped up the year with the highest total chart points on the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart, further cementing his status as the leader of the Nigerian music scene.
One of the standout tracks from Lungu Boy, “MMS” featuring Wizkid, finished as the No. 1 Afro-R&B song of the year on the Year-End chart. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart and spent three weeks atop the chart, further demonstrating Asake’s vast influence in the industry.
Asake’s success extended across multiple platforms, securing the No. 1 spot on Apple Music with Lungu Boy also finishing as the platform’s leading album. The album also topped Audiomack’s charts, while Asake claimed the top spot as the leading artist on YouTube.
With 2024 shaping up to be another record-breaking year, Asake continues to solidify his place as one of Africa’s most prominent music stars.
