Burna Boy Fulfills Promise to Bethel Okechukwu Amid Feud with Cubana Chief Priest
Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, has fulfilled his promise of a $30,000 gift to Bethel Okechukwu, who identified himself as a brother to socialite and Davido’s associate, Cubana Chief Priest. The gesture comes amid a growing feud between the award-winning singer and the socialite, which escalated over the weekend with a series of heated exchanges.
The tension between Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest began when Burna shared a cryptic post referring to Cubana as “Owerri Rick Ross,” indirectly questioning the source of his wealth. This cryptic post triggered a response from Cubana, who took aim at Burna’s Grammy win, suggesting that the singer’s success was due to an alleged romantic relationship with embattled American entertainer, Diddy. Cubana also reminded Burna of his humble beginnings, recalling how he had paid the singer N1 million to perform as a backup artist at his birthday party in 2018.
The feud reached new heights when Burna Boy posted a video of Cubana’s supposed brother, Okechukwu, detailing his struggles. In a bid to highlight the difference between his own fortune and that of his rival, Burna promised to give Okechukwu $30,000.
Within 24 hours of making this promise, Burna Boy kept his word. An Instagram post from the singer showed that the $30,000 was delivered to Okechukwu, who expressed his heartfelt gratitude in a video. In the post, Okechukwu thanked Burna for the life-changing gift, saying, “God is real, Odogwu @burnaboygram, God has used you to pull me out from poverty. I will be forever grateful. Please, people, help me thank him for me.”
However, Cubana quickly responded to Burna’s latest move, suggesting that the man who received the $30,000 is not his biological brother. On his Instagram story, Cubana clarified that he has only one biological older brother and two younger sisters, stating that he owed nothing to his siblings, as his wealth was the result of his own hard work. He wrote, “I have only one biological big brother & two kid sisters. They ain’t doing so bad. Regardless, I owe them nothing, na my money. Make everybody find their own.”
Cubana also took the opportunity to clarify that the Okechukwu who received the money from Burna was a rising singer, suggesting that Burna could offer him a verse instead of cash. He added, “But my own be say no alert oh, no cash oh, I wan just dey sure say my village boy collect for real. Na still my glorious glory. Make una show workings. Na musician, you fit even give am verse.”
This ongoing clash between Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest has kept fans and followers on edge, with each party responding to the other’s antics. While Burna’s gesture has been met with gratitude from Okechukwu, Cubana continues to deny any familial connection to the recipient, adding yet another twist to the drama.
