Global superstar and music business visionary Mr Eazi steps boldly into 2022 with “Legalize,” the first single from his upcoming debut album — and one of his most personal tracks to date.
The melodious love song, produced by an international team of Michael Brun (Haiti/USA), E Kelly(Nigeria) and Nonso Amadi (Nigeria/Canada), arrives following Eazi’s recent engagement to actress Temi Otedola, with the musical love letter heralding a new chapter for the artist behind modern-day African classics “Leg Over” and “Pour Me Water.”
The introspective “Legalize” has a vastly different feel than the current wave of raucous and boastful afrobeats, and that’s the point. “It’s more like this song is for me,” Eazi says. “A lot of the album I’m working on feels that way. I am making music for myself.”
The official music video premieres on YouTube at 5pm CAT. Not to be missed. Set your reminders and watch here.
Italian director Federico Mazzarisi shot the elaborate video, which co-stars Temi at various Venice, Italy landmarks including the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel, the Punta Della Dogana and Palazzo Grimani museums. Of course, the city’s famously romantic, canal-going gondolas also make an appearance. In fact, it was during a break on the set of the video shoot that Eazi actually popped the question.
