Rising music star Muyeez has officially announced the termination of his contract with Dapper Music, citing claims of exploitation, breach of trust, and inhumane treatment. The young artist shared his decision in a heartfelt statement on Instagram, shedding light on the struggles he endured during his time with the label.

Muyeez explained that he had signed the contract as a minor, placing his trust in Dapper Music with the hope of guidance and support. Instead, he claims he faced overwhelming demands and an unhealthy work environment. Despite releasing three successful Extended Plays (EPs) within a month, all of which charted at number one, Muyeez revealed that he had yet to receive any royalties for his hard work.

In his emotional statement, Muyeez wrote, "I was just a minor when I signed this contract, placing my trust in a company that promised to guide and support me. Instead, I was burdened with impossible demands. In just one month, I released three EPs, all of which reached number one on the charts. Yet, despite this success, I have not received a single royalty payment for my efforts."

The artist went on to accuse the label of exploiting him, forcing him to overwork without consideration for his health or well-being. He shared that the unrealistic workload took a toll on him, and despite his contributions, he was left without proper compensation. Muyeez further alleged that the label profited from his creativity while leaving him to fend for himself, without support or sustenance.

“I was forced to overwork myself, with no regard for my health or well-being. The workload was unrealistic, and the rewards were nonexistent. I was abandoned and left to starve while the company profited from my creativity. No artist should ever have to endure such conditions,” he said in the post.

A significant part of his statement also highlighted the breach of trust, claiming that Dapper Music prioritized its own interests over his. Without an independent manager to protect his rights, Muyeez expressed feeling vulnerable and unprotected by the label.

This termination follows a similar move by fellow artist Shallipopi, who also parted ways with Dapper Music under similar accusations of lack of transparency and breach of trust. The growing discontent among artists at the label has raised questions about the industry's treatment of young talent.

In response to Muyeez’s allegations, Dapper Music released a statement strongly denying the claims. The label asserted that Muyeez’s father and legal guardian, Mr. Moshood Basheer, had signed the contract on his behalf, and the company refuted any claims of mistreatment. Dapper Music also emphasized that it values and respects its artists, prioritizing their well-being and welfare.

Muyeez’s decision to terminate his contract marks a pivotal moment in his career, and his revelations shed light on the challenges that many young artists face in the music industry. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how it will impact both Muyeez’s career and the wider conversation about artist-label relationships in the Nigerian music scene.
