Obongjayar Announces Highly Anticipated Second Album Paradise Now

Nigerian-born, London-based musical visionary Obongjayar is set to release his long-awaited second studio album, Paradise Now, on Friday, 30 May 2025 via September Recordings. The 15-track project promises a daring, genre-bending journey that cements Obongjayar’s reputation as one of contemporary music’s most innovative voices.

Known for his deeply expressive vocals and poetic lyricism, Obongjayar continues to defy categorisation. On Paradise Now, he seamlessly blends Afrobeats, punk, electronic, soul and experimental pop into a cohesive sound that reflects both his Nigerian heritage and global influences. The album follows his critically acclaimed 2022 debut Some Nights I Dream of Doors, pushing even further into new sonic and emotional territory.

One of the most talked-about tracks on the album is Talk Olympics, a politically charged collaboration with British rap star Little Simz. The song fuses Obongjayar’s layered melodies with Little Simz’s razor-sharp verses to deliver a high-energy, thought-provoking anthem. The album also features production by acclaimed producers Kwes Darko, known for his work with Slowthai, and Yeti Beats, who helped shape the sound of Doja Cat. Their contributions bring texture and depth to an already expansive body of work.

In the lead-up to the album’s release, Obongjayar has teased fans with two singles: Sweet Danger and Jellyfish. Both tracks highlight the emotional range and sonic experimentation that defines the album. Sweet Danger features haunting melodies and introspective lyrics, while Jellyfish pulses with electronic energy and a raw, vocal intensity. These songs offer a glimpse into the rich world Obongjayar has crafted in Paradise Now.

Beyond the music, Obongjayar is preparing to bring Paradise Now to life on stage. A UK and European headline tour is scheduled for November 2025, giving fans the chance to witness his high-energy, emotionally charged performances. Known for his dynamic stage presence and powerful live vocals, Obongjayar’s shows have earned him a devoted following across Europe and beyond.

Fans can pre-order and pre-save Paradise Now on all major streaming platforms. Physical formats include standard CD, deluxe vinyl editions with exclusive artwork, and limited edition cassettes available via Bandcamp. A heavyweight 180-gram vinyl version is also on offer for those seeking the best possible sound quality.

As the global music landscape continues to evolve, Obongjayar remains a standout voice—bold, boundary-pushing, and emotionally resonant. With Paradise Now, he builds a bridge between his African roots and a futuristic global sound, offering listeners an immersive and transformative musical experience. When the album drops on 30 May 2025, it will mark not just a new chapter in Obongjayar’s artistic journey, but a defining moment in music this year.
