DJ Big N Opens Up About Life-Changing Ordeal in South Africa
On January 21, 2025, Nigerian DJ Nonso Temisan Ajufo, known by his stage name DJ Big N, shared a deeply personal and traumatic experience with his followers on Instagram. Recalling the events of January 12, 2025, he opened up about a terrifying incident that altered his perspective on life.
The ordeal began as a night out with friends at a fancy lounge in Johannesburg, South Africa. Afterward, DJ Big N made the decision to head to another club with an acquaintance. However, during their journey, disaster struck. At a traffic light, the pair was ambushed by two cars carrying six armed men with automatic rifles.
In a horrifying turn of events, the robbers shot DJ Big N in the leg, the bullet passing through his leg and causing him to bleed out rapidly. Despite the severity of his injuries, he was forced to hand over his jewelry, including his watch, chain, and other valuables, while trying to remain calm in the chaotic situation.
“I tried to escape but got shot in the leg. One of the robbers put the rifle to my head and demanded my watch, which I struggled to remove, along with my chain and other jewelry,” DJ Big N recalled in his post.
Bleeding heavily, the DJ managed to return to the car, and the driver rushed him to the nearest hospital. Doctors later explained that the bullet had miraculously passed through his leg, narrowly missing a major artery and bone. They called it “miraculous,” and DJ Big N credited his survival to divine intervention and his mother’s prayers.
Reflecting on the traumatic experience, DJ Big N expressed how it shifted his outlook on life. “The experience changed my perspective on life. I lost a lot of valuables that day, but I realised material possessions mean nothing,” he wrote. “Life is fragile, and validation is meaningless. God gave me another chance, and I’m committed to living more authentically and appreciating life without unnecessary stress.”
The DJ’s words served as a powerful reminder of life’s fleeting nature and the importance of cherishing what truly matters. Despite the horror he faced, DJ Big N expressed gratitude for the opportunity to live another day. He also took time to express his appreciation for the people he met and the places he visited in South Africa, acknowledging the country’s beauty while cautioning against the actions of a few bad individuals.
In a positive update, DJ Big N shared that he had stopped using crutches just two days after the incident, further emphasizing his recovery. “I’m way better now,” he said, showing his resilience in the face of adversity.
