‘Farmer’s Bride’ Records New Feat; Earns ₦163 Million in Ticket Sales

Nigerian film Farmer’s Bride has crossed an impressive milestone at the box office, earning ₦163 million in ticket sales, according to FilmOne Entertainment, the film’s distributor. The announcement, made via an Instagram post, celebrates the film’s success, highlighting its status as a certified blockbuster.

The film, directed by Adebayo Tijani and Jack’enneth Opukeme, continues to captivate audiences nationwide, staying strong in cinemas since its release on September 27, 2024. The box office earnings are a testament to the growing popularity of the film, which has already made waves in its opening weeks. Just 12 days after its release, Farmer’s Bride earned ₦89 million, with its opening weekend grossing ₦37 million. This made it the second highest-grossing film for that weekend, following Queen Lateefah. Notably, Farmer’s Bride became the highest Nollywood opening weekend for an 18-rated film in 2024, securing the fourth spot among the highest-grossing films of the year.

Set in 1980s Ibadan, Farmer’s Bride tells a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and the supernatural. The film centers on Odun, a wealthy but lonely farmer who marries the young bride, Funmi. Their marriage quickly becomes complicated when Funmi struggles to find happiness and begins an illicit affair with Odun’s nephew. The consequences of their actions unravel a haunting story that mixes emotional turmoil with supernatural elements.

The film boasts a stellar cast including Tobi Bakre, Gbubemi Ejeye, Femi Branch, Mercy Aigbe, Efe Irele, and Wumi Toriola, all of whom bring the compelling narrative to life with powerful performances.

FilmOne Entertainment also updated fans with the good news that the film continues to show in cinemas nationwide, further cementing its position as one of 2024’s top Nollywood films.
