Fashion Designer Lasosa Warns Tailors Against Copying Priscy Ojo and Juma Jux’s Pre-Wedding Outfit

Nigerian fashion designer Lasosa has issued a stern warning to fellow tailors and designers, vowing to take legal action against anyone who copies the design she created for influencer Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux’s pre-wedding shoot.
The celebrity couple recently unveiled their second look from a planned five-outfit series, rocking a coordinated beige and brown ensemble with intricate floral motifs. The stunning outfits captured attention on social media, earning praise for their elegant craftsmanship.
Lasosa’s Legal Threat to Copycats
Following the buzz around the outfits, Lasosa took to social media to declare that she owned the rights to the design. In an interview with lifestyle and fashion blog Asoebi Styles, she made it clear that she would not tolerate unauthorized reproductions of her work.
“This was exclusively made for Priscilla and her husband, so you know what that means, right? We have rights to this dress. If you copy me and give it to ‘Obioma’ [local tailors] and I see it, you might just get sued. See you in court,” Lasosa warned.
She emphasized the level of effort that went into crafting the outfits, urging people to respect originality instead of replicating designs. “It took too much to make this, don’t copy me, that’s not nice. If you don’t want to see yourself in court, send me a DM,” she added.
Mixed Reactions from Fans
Lasosa’s statement sparked varied reactions online, with some supporting her stance while others dismissed the claim, arguing that the outfit’s design was not unique.
One user wrote, “No problem, I’ll put butterflies in my design instead of flowers, is that okay?” Another commented, “The dress is beautiful, but I don’t see what you want to sue someone for. Nothing new in this design.”
Despite the debate, Lasosa remains firm in her position, reinforcing the growing conversation around originality and intellectual property in the Nigerian fashion industry.
