Lizzy Alichi Slams Unsolicited Prayers for Pregnancy After Congratulating Chika Ike

Nigerian actress Lizzy Alichi has expressed frustration over the flood of unsolicited prayers and comments urging her to conceive. The remarks came after she congratulated fellow actress Chika Ike on her pregnancy, prompting many fans to tell her she would be “next” to have a baby.

Taking to her Instagram story on February 16, 2025, Alichi shared her irritation, revealing that this kind of reaction is one of the reasons she hesitates to publicly celebrate others on their baby news.

“One of the reasons I hardly comment or post to congratulate my colleagues or anyone when they welcome a baby… these comments are so annoying. Jesus!” she wrote.

She also posted screenshots of responses from followers insisting she was “next,” questioning why people felt the need to make such remarks.

“‘You are next’—I don’t understand, did I complain to you?? Are you in my family? Do you know what our issues are?” she fired back.

Mixed Reactions from Fans

Alichi’s response sparked debates online, with some fans agreeing that people should be more sensitive about such topics, while others defended the comments as simple well-wishes.

One social media user supported her stance, saying:
“Pregnancy is a personal journey. Keep your wishes and prayers until the person openly asks for them. You may not know their reasons.”

Another added:
“People should really learn and master emotional intelligence. Sometimes, the constant prayers you type online may actually remind someone of their struggles.”

On the other hand, some followers saw nothing wrong with the comments, suggesting Alichi should simply take them in good faith.
“It’s just a simple prayer; an ‘Amen’ wouldn’t hurt, haba!” one user argued.

A Growing Conversation on Boundaries

Alichi’s reaction has reignited conversations about societal expectations and the pressure placed on women, especially celebrities, regarding marriage and childbirth. Many have emphasized the need for people to be more mindful of personal boundaries, especially when addressing such sensitive topics.

While some believe the prayers are coming from a place of love, others insist that emotional intelligence and respect for privacy should take precedence.
