Mohbad’s Wife Wunmi Speaks Out: “I Still Have No Closure, His Body Remains in the Morgue”

Almost two years after the tragic passing of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, his wife, Wunmi, has opened up about her ongoing struggle with grief and the lack of closure surrounding his death. In an emotional interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, she expressed her distress over the fact that Mohbad’s body remains in the mortuary, with no burial date in sight.

“I haven’t had any closure since my husband died, and sometimes it feels like he’s still alive. He’s in Yaba morgue and still has not been buried, and it’s so, so sad,” she said tearfully.

Wunmi revealed her frustration over the continued delay in burying Mohbad, claiming that her father-in-law is deliberately preventing the burial for personal reasons. She stated that despite two autopsies—one conducted by the government and another privately arranged by Mohbad’s father—there is still no justifiable reason for the delay.

“He has been cut open twice, you know they did two autopsies. The government autopsy and the private one that my father-in-law did. I can tell you that there is no genuine reason why he’s still there. My father-in-law has no reason for keeping him there, yet he keeps saying that the government isn’t letting Mohbad get justice and he has been manipulating the public,” she alleged.

Wunmi also spoke about her fears and the threats she has been receiving since her husband’s passing. According to her, she no longer feels safe and has been receiving constant death threats, making it difficult for her to move on.

“Sometimes I feel like God cheated my husband; he didn’t have to die. We no longer feel safe, and I get death threats literally every day in my DMs. It has gotten to the point that I either speak up or die in silence,” she lamented.

In addition to the burial controversy, Wunmi accused her father-in-law of attempting to take control of Mohbad’s assets. She alleged that he had been trying to undermine her and had even ridiculed her son, Liam, whom she shares with the late singer.

Mohbad, a rising star in the Nigerian music industry, tragically passed away in September 2023 under circumstances that sparked public outcry and calls for justice. His death led to widespread protests and demands for a thorough investigation. However, nearly two years later, his family remains entangled in disputes, and his body remains unburied, leaving many questions unanswered.

As the situation continues to unfold, fans and well-wishers of the late singer hope for a resolution that will finally allow him to be laid to rest, bringing much-needed closure to his loved ones.
