Phyna Publicly Disowns Family, Drops Surname Amid Emotional Outburst

Big Brother Naija star Phyna has taken a bold and emotional step, publicly disowning her family and dropping her surname, Otabor. In a candid post on X, the reality TV star shared her decision, stating that it has been “proven” that she has no family, and no one knows the truth about her origins.

Phyna’s revelation comes after years of emotional turmoil, reflecting on her difficult childhood. The 27-year-old described the ongoing search for answers as “rough,” admitting she is struggling to articulate her feelings. “I can’t even describe how I feel or what to call what I’m going through right now,” she confessed, explaining how she was moved from one relative’s home to another, hinting at a sense of betrayal and neglect she’s carried for years.

“I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR…it has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about,” Phyna wrote. The message was filled with frustration, as she reflected on how, as a child, she was “tossed around” among relatives and should have suspected foul play, though she was too young to understand at the time.

This public outburst comes a year after Phyna’s father, Felix Otabor, claimed that she abandoned the family after her BBNaija win. In an interview, he shared that since Phyna’s victory, he hasn’t seen her, and she never returned home. He recounted how she promised to change his life after her win but allegedly stopped all communication with him shortly after.

Mr. Otabor, an ambulance driver, also mentioned that Phyna had asked him to sell his old cars, promising to buy him new ones. While Phyna later bought him a jeep, her father admitted he was still unsatisfied and wanted more.

In response, Phyna took to Snapchat, revealing the pain of growing up without parental love. “Growing up I always hear you are not my daughter… you are not my daughter… Yet I would beg for parental love,” she wrote, explaining how her parents often denied her as their child. The reality TV star concluded by accepting the harsh reality that she had always felt like an orphan, despite her efforts to seek love and validation.

Phyna’s public announcement and emotional response have sparked conversations about the complexities of family dynamics and the toll it can take on a person’s mental health. The star’s journey continues to unfold, leaving fans and followers eagerly awaiting more updates as she navigates these personal revelations.
