Yul Edochie Declares Ambition to Become Anambra’s Next Governor, Sparks Mixed Reactions
Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred up controversy once again, this time by announcing his intention to run for governor of his home state, Anambra. On December 19, 2024, Edochie shared a post on Instagram with Seyi Tinubu, the son of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu, declaring their respective political ambitions.
In his post, Edochie described both himself and Seyi Tinubu as the “next governors” of Anambra and Lagos states, respectively, writing: “The next Governor of Lagos State @seyitinubu with The next Governor of Anambra State @yuledochie Sealed. THANK YOU LORD!”
The announcement quickly elicited a range of reactions from both supporters and critics. Some mocked Edochie’s political aspirations, questioning his qualifications for the role. One critic commented, “Na today I confirm say you day craze sha,” while another dismissed his claim, saying, “Which Anambra state? In your dreams. We can’t have mumu as a governor. God forbid.”
Other comments expressed skepticism about the actor’s alignment with Seyi Tinubu, with one person writing, “Never seen Seyi like your posts or comments on it before… forcing yourself on him the way his father forced himself on us.”
Despite the negative responses, several supporters voiced their encouragement, urging Edochie to pursue his ambition. One user noted, “The hate for him is too much. That his marriage failed is not an excuse for all these messages. He has an ambition. If you dislike him, move on.” Another expressed their well wishes, stating, “From your lips to the ears and heart of GOD. May God keep and protect you both in strength and good health.”
Edochie’s political aspirations are not new, but this latest declaration has reignited conversations about his potential role in governance. Whether he will follow through on his ambition remains uncertain, but his announcement has certainly captured public attention, with many closely watching how his political journey unfolds.
