Zlatan Ibile Slams Online Begging Culture, Calls for Hard Work Over Handouts

Nigerian singer Zlatan Ibile has spoken out against the growing trend of online begging, calling out social media users who constantly ask celebrities for giveaways while simultaneously trolling them.

During a recent appearance on The Drive-Time Show, Zlatan shared his thoughts on the issue, expressing frustration over how some individuals spend their entire day hopping from one celebrity’s page to another in search of financial assistance.

“I don’t mean to be petty, but I know how people move on the internet,” he said. “It’s like these people are just there from morning till night under your activities, wanting giveaways. I don’t know the reason, but they always want. Just this afternoon, I was thinking to myself—are these people just online jumping from one celebrity to another? I can’t talk too much sha before they remind me that I was once there.”

The singer, who has often given back to fans, revealed that he now prefers to support hardworking individuals rather than handing out money randomly. He recalled a time when he went through social media posts searching for people genuinely showcasing their skills and businesses.

“One particular day, I was wondering how to help, but I didn’t want to give random people money. So I went through people tweeting about their jobs, and if I saw that you said you were a tailor but had nothing on your page about it, at least you must have posted about your services.”

However, Zlatan also highlighted an instance where he chose not to help someone because she had previously trolled him online.

“There was this lady, so I checked her page and searched my name, only to see that she had said something about me in 2020. People were telling me to forgive her, and it’s easy for people to say, but me, I have the money to give to someone else.”

Zlatan’s comments have sparked discussions about entitlement on social media, the culture of online begging, and the need for people to focus on hard work rather than waiting for handouts.
