Amaju Pinnick’s Case – Soldiers and Police Storm NFF Office
The fiasco in the tussle for leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken a new twist as soldiers and riot policemen have been placed on red alert at the secretariat of the NFF, preventing staff from entering into the Glass House.
The soldiers and policemen were said to have been deployed to the Glass House by the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung.
According to reports, no one except staff of the FRSC properly identified despite their uniforms are allowed into the premises because the secretariat also houses the Federal Road Safety Commission.
The deployment of the security agents followed the Federal High Court ruling which dissolved the Amaju Pinnick led NFF board. The High Court ruling also replaced Amaju Pinnick with Chris Giwa as the new head, ordering that he assume the position with immediate effect.
Chris Giwa was elected the head of NFF following the High Court ruling on Friday, April 8, and has stated that his board will officially start work immediately, an action which could spark the rage of the world’s football governing body, which rejects government interference in the game.
However, the Pinnick led NFF has swiftly moved to file an appeal, a motion to vacate the order and a motion for a stay-of-execution against the judgement of the Jos High Court which on Friday April 8, decided to re-list a case brought by Ambassador Chris Giwa against the administration of Amaju Melvin Pinnick.
It is uncertain wen the case will die down as the logger heads between Chris Giwa and Amaju Pinnick continue to heat up. It would be recalled that in January, the minister called for a peaceful meeting in order to help reconcile the differences of the two grown men. The effort was fruitless however, as it ended up in a fight and the grown men almost assaulted each other physically.
