After two decades of captivating radio audiences, renowned on-air personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, popularly known as Do2dtun, has officially announced his departure from the radio scene. The beloved media figure shared an emotional message on his Instagram, reflecting on his incredible journey and the legacy he has built over the years.

In a heartfelt post, Do2dtun opened up about the challenges and triumphs that have defined his radio career. He began his journey in November 2004 when he joined Cool FM Lagos as an intern, unsure of what the future held. He humbly recalled arriving at the station as a “dusty, unprepared” individual who knew little about the industry but was eager to learn.

“I was this kid with fear, doubtful but by hands were held by one of my most selfless colleagues ever,” he wrote, paying tribute to the late Dan Foster, Olisa Adibua, Daddy Freeze, and other industry giants who mentored him early in his career. “You were the first set of guys that gave me the little light to grow after GOD.”

Do2dtun went on to share how his career blossomed over the years, with a key achievement being his role in reshaping the Nigerian radio landscape. At Cool FM, he was instrumental in revamping the airwaves by introducing more Nigerian music and content. Through his shows like “Cool Nigerian Vibe,” “Superstar Wednesday,” and “Office Concert,” he helped shift the focus from primarily foreign music to a 70% Nigerian music playlist, celebrating the country’s rich musical culture.

Reflecting on his career, Do2dtun described the journey as a rollercoaster ride, filled with highs and lows. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on Nigerian radio, acknowledging that his journey was shaped by a variety of experiences—both challenging and rewarding.

“It was a win for us all,” he said, speaking to the growth and success of Nigerian music and content on the airwaves. “I can’t even explain my journey because it’s a lot. It was a rollercoaster of the good, the bad, the awesome, and the ugly.”

As he bids farewell to radio, Do2dtun expressed his deep appreciation for Cool FM, the station that gave him his start, and its leadership for supporting his career. His departure marks the end of a significant era in Nigerian radio, but his influence and legacy will continue to resonate with fans and colleagues alike.

With a career spanning 20 years, Do2dtun leaves behind a lasting imprint on the Nigerian media industry, a testament to his hard work, passion, and dedication to his craft.
