Eagles To Play Two Friendlies in June
The Nigerian Super Eagles is set to play two grade A friendlies in London in June, ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers after missing out on AFCON 2017. The president of NFF, Amaju Pinnick recently disclosed that the federation would utilize the two FIFA windows in June to bring together the Super Eagles players ahead of the qualifyung matches for the World Cup.
A source from the NFF told Vanguard News that the choice of London for the friendly matches is because it is centrally located and that the federation will not find it difficult assembling the players.
It was gathered that Pinnick is regularly in contact with the London-based agent of the NFF , who has given him hopes of securing two top grade A countries for the friendly matches, and is to give confirmation of these countries.
A source from the NFF disclosed that the agent is expected to conclude discussions with the countries in two weeks time. The source also disclosed that the responses they have been getting so far are positive, adding that the NFF would make public the countries as soon as the deal was concluded.
“One obvious thing is that the two friendly matches are slated for London in June. We have opened discussions with some top European countries for the two FIFA window dates and i am convinced that they are responding positively”.
