University of Sheffield Nigeria Merit Post Graduate Scholarships

University of Sheffield is pleased to offer Nigeria Merit Postgraduate Scholarships. These are awarded to undertake any of the courses offered by the university.

The University of Sheffield is ranked 97th in the world and 15th in the UK according to the 2015-16 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, a rise of three and 24 places respectively.

The aim of Sheffield University is to examine the impact of the division between further and higher education on strategies to widen participation in undergraduate education

To be eligible for the Nigeria Merit Postgraduate Scholarships 2016 (50% tuition fee discount), applicants must be self-funding and classed as ‘overseas’ for fee purposes. Applicants may be required to take an internationally recognised English language test such as IELTS.

Course Level: There are three Nigeria Merit Postgraduate Scholarships , available for Nigerian students starting their postgraduate taught masters programme in September 2016.

Study Subject: Scholarships are offered in diverse fields to help students in upgrading their education.

Scholarship Award: Each scholarship is worth 50% tuition fee discount of your postgraduate taught masters degree tuition fee per year, for one year of study. The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Nigeria Merit Postgraduate Scholarships 2016 (50% tuition fee discount), applicants must be self-funding and classed as ‘overseas’ for fee purposes AND a Nigerian national or permanently domiciled in Nigeria, apply for a study place by Friday 17 June 2016 and hold an offer of a study place for entry in September 2016.

Nationality: Applicants from Nigeria are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

-High entrance requirements for postgraduate taught Masters degree programmes at Sheffield reflect the quality of the University.
-The University of Sheffield has been welcoming students from all over the world for many decades and we have a lot of experience in assessing and understanding the many different international qualifications.
-You may be required to take an internationally recognised English language test such as IELTS.

English Language Requirement [TOEFL/IELTS] International English Language Testing Service (IELTS): Overall score of 6.5 or above, with at least 5.5 in each component
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): Overall score of 176 or above, with at least 162 in each component
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): Overall score of 176 or above, with at least 162 in each component
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): Overall score of 61 or above, with at least 51 in each component
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) internet-based test (IBT): Overall score of 88 or above, with at least 17 in Listening, 17 in Writing, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking
University of Sheffield English Proficiency Test (USEPT) (graded as a percentage equivalent to IELTS point score, eg 65% = IELTS 6.5): Overall score of 65% or above, with at least 55% in each component

Supporting Material: In addition to the completed application, the following documents must be submitted:
-proof of your previous academic qualifications (e.g. undergraduate degree transcript). If this is not in English, you must provide a certified translation.
