RCCG Pastor Arrested For Over N30m Land Fraud
Pastor Felix Olu Fadare of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Fullers Field Parish in Ajah area of Lagos has been arrested and sent to prison over his alleged involvement in a N100m Lekki Land Fraud.
He is in the list of people picked up by the police over the Lekki Land Re-settlement Schemes in Eti-Osa Local Government, Lagos State, Western Nigeria which was plagued by malpractices.
The Ondo state born pastor from Ilara Mokin was arrested in his hideout after the police trailed him following a petition against him by one of the victims, Kehinde Ola. Fadare was arrested and charged with fraud under the Criminal Code before Igbosere Magistrate’s Court by the Special Fraud Unit, SFU.
It was gathered that Fadare and his partner in crime by the name Adeola Ajidahun conspired and defrauded Kehinde Ola to the tune of N30m under the false pretence of selling some plots of land at the same resettlement in Lagos.
It was also discovered that Mr. Kehinde Ola was not the only person Ajidahun and Fadare allegedly defrauded over the land. Another victim, Tony Ezeoke allegedly lostover N10m on the same land. Fadare was arrested and charged to court with conspiracy, obtaining under false pretense and stealing under the Criminal Code.
Ajidahun who had been previously arraigned in the court on the same charge, had presented the pastor to Mr. Kehinde Ola as his agent. The complainant was said to have paid N30m to 88-year-old Ajidahun after he showed him some documents indicating that he acquired the land from the State Government. Trouble started when a family in the area challenged Ola’s ownership of the land. He was said to have petitioned the police, leading to the arrests of the suspects.
Before Fadare got arrested, the octogenarian had been arraigned and granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. When Fadare was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The court has fixed May 31, 2016 for the trial of the pastor.
