NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja. Borno State is host to the largest number of IDPs with the biggest concentration in Maiduguri City. NRC is providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH); Food Security; and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) in order to address identified humanitarian needs. We are now looking for an Area Manager for Maduguri.

Job description
- Line management for senior project staff and support functions in Maiduguri
- Compliance with- and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Provide area specific input on the Core Competency (CC) strategies, Country Strategy and Plan of Action
- Organize grants opening and closure meetings at area level
- Implementation of projects (including master support budget and coordinating input for donor proposals and reports), in compliance with contractual commitments
- Ensure optimal use of resources
- Represent NRC and networking in Maiduguri
- Ensure that capacity building is provided to all staff in the area
- Ensure overall security and safety of staff in the area
- Assess needs, develop emergency response and implement response plans
- Advance the process of humanitarian access outside of Maiduguri

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior management level position in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Technical expertise in Protection, Shelter, WASH or Food Security will be a distinct advantage
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge on own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
